Sorry if this was asked before, but the slightly mentioned RPG your working on, is it going to be a stand alone rules system or is it going to use one of the other major exsisting rulesets?

It'd be pretty awesome if it used the D20 OGL engine, since all my friends know it already and tend to balk at the idea of learning a new game system, but I can understand why Comfy Chair might not want to risk that. When I worked at Privateer Press, the backroom gossip was that the top brass were really upset that they had accidentally lost some of their intellectual property rights by using the OGL system (specifically the Warjacks, which technically anyone can now include in an OGL adventure or supplement because they are stated out in the Iron Kingdoms RPG).

Ahh, so the sellout snowball started long ago, haha. Honestly though, I would really like to see a stand alone rule set and there should have always been one for Iron Kingdoms...I love that setting.

We do have a pretty thick RPG that still needs work sitting here. We avoided the OGL like nobodies business because simply put, nobody is going to let you use their engine without getting something out of it for themselves. Alot of companies found after using the OGL that when the owners decided it wasn't in their best interest for other companies using the OGL to release RPG minis, alot of people lost money.

We weren't about to put out a product that relied on a compeditors product, thats just bad business. So we have our own system developing.

That is a good thing to hear. Out of all the mini games I have played throughout the years, the game mechanics for Spinespur are by far the best right out of the gate. So that is a good thing to hear and something I will be trusting in.

You know, that's a good point right there. The tactical wargame rules are about 80% of what one needs in an RPG ruleset. Add some character creation mechanics, a skills system, and a experience gain system and it would be highly workable.

I'll still probably end up having to convert everything to D20 Modern anyways, since all my friends are jackasses who act like learning a new system is the equivalent of obtaining a second PhD.

I've been wondering sbout the status of this RPG lately... I've been running Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu ruleset and have been toying with the idea of using it to run a spinspur themed game.

I've been thinking of using the old World of Darkness rules to run a game set in Spinespur. Most of my players are familiar with it, and it's quick and easy to use for (somewhat) non-powered humans.

Would be a good setting for it. Or Changeling...I think that is what it was called.
